GEZE automatic doors in the super shopping centre, the Mall of Scandinavia
The Mall of Scandinavia in Solna, Sweden, offers visitors a unique combination of exclusive shopping, culinary highlights and entertainment over three floors. GEZE Sweden has supplier around 150 automatic doors for the Mall of Scandinavia in its largest project to date.

Sweden has a new super shopping centre: the Mall of Scandinavia brings together 224 shops and 20 restaurants, as well as Scandinavia's largest cinema in an area measuring 100,000 m2. In addition to typically high Scandinavian design expectations, sustainability criteria also played an essential role in the planning and implementation of this ambitious project. This led to Sweden's first environmental certification for a shopping centre in accordance with the BREEAM standard. The Mall of Scandinavia was the biggest project yet for GEZE Sweden; GEZE used provided some 150 state-of-the-art door solutions, from automatic sliding door systems to manual swing doors, for the hyper-modern shopping centre.
Unobtrusive door functionality on the parking levels

The Mall of Scandinavia comprises seven floors, four of which - the bottom two and the top two as well as parts of the two retail levels - are reserved for parking. GEZE’s major part in the shopping mall is particularly visible in the 18 glazed corridors which connect the 3,700 parking spaces to the retail centre itself. These corridors include over 150 automatic doors by GEZE.
In harmony with the sleek elegance of the building's architecture, the door leaves were fitted with black varnished frames and subtle hidden door drives - a customer-specific adjustment that makes a real impression. "GEZE and Westins Fönsterteknik AB have together developed an aesthetic, quality-assured complete solution. The door systems fulfil both the design requirements of the architect and the functional requirements of the fire safety officer, resulting in an appealing appearance for the 18 corridors leading from the parking levels; a completely successful collaboration at all stages of the project," says Sebastian Westin of Westins Fönsterteknik AB, Mall of Scandinavia Project Manager.
Stylish sliding door systems lead to the cinema auditoriums
Everywhere in the shopping centre: spacious ease of access, thanks to glazed sliding door systems.
The GEZE crowning glory in the Mall of Scandinavia is probably the two automatic sliding door systems which lead to the Filmstaden Scandinavia cinema. With 11 screens – including a 550-seat IMAX screen and a VIP restaurant on the 2nd floor, this cinema is the most prestigious part of the mall. The glass door leaves of the automatic doors, which GEZE provided in collaboration with AB Fasadglas, bear the round SF logo in screen print across the entire front. "A highly complex entrance façade; the automatic doors are connected to each other and to the film projectors, which receive the signal to start when the doors open. The locks and automatic doors must function perfectly, otherwise the film projectors will stop," says Diana Jurukov, Fasadglas Project Manager.
Since function and design were both top priority for our client, GEZE was the natural choice for me and the architect. In terms of its experience, GEZE is highly responsible, constructive, and solution-focused in all of its projects. GEZE was also on hand during the construction phase, and oversaw the correct design. The company has a wide range of technical know-how at its disposal.Diana Jurukov, Fasadglas Project Manager
Complex logistics - professionally managed by GEZE
Unique: a lavish logo print adorns the automatic sliding door system to the VIP restaurant.
Supply issues for such a massive project would be fatal for any supplier. There were no such problems for GEZE Sweden, however: thanks to the international experience and the many extensive projects which GEZE has implemented across the globe, the internal processes ran beautifully.
GEZE Sweden was able to meet the stringent requirements of the construction firm PEAB and the logistics consultant for the Mall of Scandinavia project without any problems, and installed all the door systems ready for operation in time for the opening on 12 November 2015. "As far as I am concerned, GEZE provided an outstanding service to the Mall of Scandinavia," confirms Marie Hallberg, Project Manager at PEAB.
